But if a market or drug store has a handful of items on sale and if the advertised prices are among the lowest  in the area, I&#8217;ll plan on making a stop to shop. Again this week, I&#8217;ll be heading to <strong>Market Basket</strong> for some bargains.</span></p>

Frankly, it’s rare when a chain that seems to focus on a few specials (like Shaw’s, Stop &amp; Shop or Hannaford) can top the deals at Market Basket, where the specials run from cover to cover of the flier. But this week Shaw’s has some good deals, too.</p>

<p class="ListingsText">From today-Thursday (Aug. 23-29), all area <strong>Shaw’s</strong> have boneless center cut pork chops for $1.79 a pound, large cantaloupes for 99 cents, market brand butter for $1.66 a pound (limit 4), 5-pound bags of red potatoes for $1.99 (and there’s an extra $1 off if you use Printacoupon at Shaws.com). Also, 12-big rolls of Charmin Basic or Bounty Basic are $4.99 (plus an extra $1 off two from Printacoupon), Maxwell House coffee in 34.5-ounce containers is $5.77 (limit two, plus there’s a flier coupon for a free box of General Mills cereal). Finally, Tostitos salsa, dip or tortilla chips are $2.50 each but there’s a buy one salsa, get one free coupon in the flier, too.</p>

<p class="ListingsText">From Sunday-Saturday (Aug. 23-29), <strong>Market Basket</strong> has 85% lean ground beef for $2.29 a pound (in any size package), schrod haddock fillets for $3.99 a pound, market brand rare roast beef for $3.99 a pound, Uno pizzas (cheese or pepperoni) are $3.33, live lobsters are $4.99 a pound, farm-raised salmon steaks are $5.59 a pound, Breyers yogurts in 6-ounce cups are 40 cents each, Sargento cheese shreds in 8-ounce bags are $2, California Bartlett or Bosc pears are 79 cents a pound and yellow cooking onions in 2-pound bags are 99 cents. Finally, oh Canada, 12-packs of Labatt Blue or Molson Canadian beer are $7.99.</p>

<p class="ListingsText">From Sunday-Tuesday (Aug. 23-25), <strong>CVS</strong> has store brand 100-sheet composition books free after 99 cents back in Extra Bucks. From Sunday-Saturday, you’ll get $5 back in Extra Bucks if you spend $15 on Energizer batteries, including rechargeable AAAs or AAs. Also get $5 back in Extra Bucks if you spend $15 on Biore, Jergens, Curel skin care or John Frieda hair care (and look for manufacturer’s coupons in the Sunday paper). Finally, Carefree Ultra Protection pantiliners in 16-count packages are free after $3.79 back in Extra Bucks (limit four).</p>

Zyrtec allergy relief 30-tablet containers are $11.99 with $7 back in Register Rewards, and Dawn dish liquid in 10.3-ounce containers is 99 cents (limit three) with a flier coupon.</p>
